What do I do?
Here's the quick version: I was born in Colombia, raised in Seattle, and now I live in Oakland, CA. I currently lead marketing for TED’s Podcasts. I’ve listened to podcasts since middle school, and I’m passionate about the world of audio. In my spare time, I'm also part of an art collective called TOOMPT, which recently launched its first publication called tender/bliss.
I've been fortunate enough to get to pursue many different aspects of my passions throughout my work. I gravitate toward work that centers audience, tells a story, and helps people feel seen. My hope is that the work I do will help shape a world that is more understanding, equal and just.

My toolbox
"Valentina is a Swiss Army Knife! She can do anything!"
One of my former bosses said this, and it stuck. I try to embody that idea in all the work that I do. Throughout my studies and my work experience, I have tried to become someone who can tackle any project.
Art
My artwork touches on themes relating to identity, sexuality, belonging and human connection. Much of my work is focused on the female form and an exploration of women as divine beings. I explore acrylic on canvas, as well as non-traditional mixed media pieces, bringing together collage, oil pastel, acrylic, and gouache. I am drawn to working on unconventional surfaces like mylar as an alternative to canvas. This material allows me to create a space for literal and metaphorical reflection and gives me the space to create much larger work.
My art practice currently involves exploring ceramic and print making along with my continued interest in painting.
Much of my work is done in collaboration with my art collective TOOMPT, together we have created a zine called tender/bliss, exploring vulnerability and connection. For more information visit toompt.cool.
